Cannes is a world famous city and located in the beautiful south of France right on the Côte d’Azur. Cannes offers not only a nice holiday for beach lovers but also for the fanatic cyclist, there are many possibilities in the Côte d’Azur. Where to ride?
For cycling go inland or ride along the stunning coast up to Monaco, Nice or the other direction southwards of Cannes like Saint Rafael. Nice rides and certainly recommended is the climb to Col du Vence. Ride from Juan Les Pins to the historic village of Vence. This twelve century perched village has the perfect starting point for a fantastic ride in the backyards of the Mediterranean Sea. The circuit is roughly 90 km (56 miles) with the climb of Col de Vence at the end. The climb is relatively steep but not especially hard. The ride starts with a short climb then a decent to Gorges du Loup from here you head to the typical perched village of Coursegoules. Virtually it’s a 40 km downhill ride back to Vence before you tackle Col du Vence.
Don’t miss the loop ride La Napoule to Saint-Raphaël to La Napoule Loop ride La Napoule is located just a few kilometres from Cannes and is located on the footsteps of Massif de L’ésterel and the Corniche d`Or (gold coast). Get on your bike and peddle all the way up through the Massif de l`Esterel to the beautiful resort town Saint-Raphaël where Napoleon landed in 1799. From this touristy town you navigate your way back on the N98 with the Mediterranean Sea constantly on your right hand side. You will pass coastal villages like Boulouris and Agay before you reach the pretty resort of Théoule-Sur-Mer (one of our favourite spots). From there we descend gently back to La Napoule. A beautiful day…. breath-taking views stunning landscapes and hopefully full of sunshine. That’s why Cannes and the Côte d’Azur is a very popular cycling destination.
