The Etape du Tour 2026 will take place on Sunday 19 July 2026. Start from Bourg d’Oisans and finish in Alpe d’Huez with 170 km and 5,400m of elevation gain. This is one of the toughest Etape du Tours for years. Experience the thrill of cycling on fully closed roads as you tackle one of the most demanding routes in the 2026 Etape du Tour de France. Today you can choose for group airport transfers and private transfers on request. When you make your booking, you can include the airport group transfer in your package. Please book a flight that arrives at least 1 hour before your transfer time. Private transfers can be arranged at an additional cost

Day 1

Arrival / warm up day

For those who arrived yesterday their will be a supported guided ride with the knowledgeable guides who will also be able to give you tips on riding the Etape if you need them! Their will also be airport transfers from Geneva or Lyon today which will be available to book as part of the packages. If you are travelling by car, you'll get advise of the hotels with the best parking facilities. Today you can choose for group airport transfers and private transfers on request. When you make your booking, you can include the airport group transfer in your package. Please book a flight that arrives at least 1 hour before your transfer time. Private transfers can be arranged at an additional cost

Day 2

Preparation day

After breakfast and any necessary bike mechanical work, you'll get a supported, guided ride. you’ll be back at the hotel in the afternoon for you to rest and get prepared for tomorrow. You can visit the Expo today to collect your race number. Late afternoon our bike guides will do a race briefing, to talk you through the Etape day logistics and the route. For those who have bought a package this is when you will be able to give us your bag with your private nutrition for the feed stops. For those of you on half board evening meal will be available in your hotel. The expo is at the Palais des Sports in Alpe d’Huez: if you are staying in Bourg d’Oisans you'll get help to the expo to collect your race number. Traditionally the Expo and bib collection is available on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Opening timings will be confirmed soon.

Day 3

Cyclosportive day

You'll have an early start this morning. Early breakfast is arranged in your hotel. The Etape du Tour start is done in waves. You will be allocated a start pen and start time, along with a time that you must enter your start pen.

Hotels

For those staying in Bourg d’Oisans you can roll to the start in the morning.
For those guests who have booked a package at our Alpe d’Huez Hotels you'll be able to descend to Bourg d’Oisans which takes about 30 minutes and some of the team will be waiting by the start line to collect any extra clothing you might have taken to keep warm on your way down the mountain.

The 2026 Etape du Tour

Now is the time you have been training for! You can enjoy the ride and the rewarding challenges that it will bring with it as you make your way towards the finish line. Your starting pen will have been allocated by the race organisers and clearly indicated in your start pack.
With this package you can make the most of two private feed stations on the route where you can take on board nutrition and real food options.
The Etape du Tour has various cut-off points. You need to have passed each cut-off point at a certain time, otherwise you w'll be eliminated from the race. If you’re eliminated, your bike will go on a bike trailer to the finish, and you will be taken to the finish by bus.

After you finish

Following the completion of the Etape, You'll have food, drink, and a massage waiting for you. Those staying in Alpe d’Huez can go directly back to their hotel
For those who are staying at the race start in Bourg d’Oisans it is only a 30 minute ride back down the 21 bends to your hotel.

Day 4

Departure day

Time to say goodbye & a good flight back home! After breakfast their is an optional transfers back to Geneva and Lyon airport. Private transfers can be arranged at an additional cost. Alternatively, you can make your own arrangements to depart today or contact us for more information about staying in the Alps to watch the pro riders later in the week.
