Welcome to Italy! Cycle the beautiful area of Lake Como in Northern Italy. Cycling in Italy is great, especially in the region around Lake Como. Experience the peaceful countryside roads with very little traffic. Furthermore every year at the end of September the UCI Pro Tour race Giro di Lombardia will be held in this famous region.

You will stay 5 nights in Bellagio in a bike-friendly hotel, and from here you start all your rides. Bellagio is one of the most beautiful places in Lombardy and is situated at the cape of Lake Como just before the Lakes dividing into two sections. Sitting at the head of Lake Como’s central promontory, Bellagio has been transformed into one of the most preferred destinations in Italy. Bellagio’s beauty has been praised since the sixteenth century, therefore it is not surprising to call it the pearl of Lake Como.

Cycle the rolling hills and ride through the typical Italian villages in this wonderful cycling paradise. A trip to Lake Como is not complete without a ride up to Ghisallo, visiting the museum and the chapel of La Madonna del Ghisallo is a must-do for every cyclist. Imagine drinking an espresso or cappuccino in the town of Bellagio after a hard day in the saddle or drinking a glass of wine, overlooking Lake Como. Day 1

Check in

Check-in around 14.00 at your hotel in Bellagio. This beautiful town will be your starting point for the upcoming week. The tour leader will explain the coming activities and itinerary for this Cycle Lake Como program. Overnight stay in Cernobbio

Day 2

Warm Up Ride 39 km - Elivation Gain 859

Regular cyclists know what is meant by a period of “warming up”. That is the moment in which your legs begin to flow and you ease into your breathing before more intense activity. This route corresponds precisely to this idea: on the one hand, it allows you to become familiar with our region, and on the other, it is to tackle just under 1,000 meters in elevation without pedaling hundreds of miles. Best of all, the final climb finishes at the Madonna del Ghisallo, the Patron Saint of Cyclists, which is a must-see for all cyclists visiting Lake Como.

Day 3

Bellagio -Nesso - Como - Cernobbio - Tremezzo - Bellagio 68km Elevation 880

This route of medium difficulty runs entirely through the coastal roads of the most beautiful branch of Lake Como that has enchanted the aristocracy for centuries. Important points of interest are the town of Nesso, a picturesque village known for its natural gorge located at the mouth of the Tuf and Nosè valleys; the historic city of Como; and finally the elegant villas such as Villa Olmo, Villa d’Este, and Villa Carlotta. The bike tour finishes with a crossing of the lake by ferry to Bellagio.

Day 4

Ghisallo and Muro di Sormano 60km Elevation 1810

Two iconic climbs of Il Lombardia – Ghisallo and Muro di Sormano – await those who want to challenge their legs and hearts like the professionals do every autumn. The mileage is not long, but what brings awe is the challenging ascent of these two legendary climbs. The Ghisallois only 8.6km, but is made of two steep climbs that rarely dip below 10% and hit a maximum of 14%. After a photo at the Madonna del Ghisallo and a fast descent from the pass, you begin the stiff 5km climb to the base of the Muro di Sormano. Be sure not to blow yourself up on this first climb that averages 8% or your legs will not have the strength to continue up the feared Muro. This is the steepest cycle path in Italy which measures 1.9km with an average gradient of 16% and peaks at 25%. When you reach the summit have a rest at the rifugio to regain your strength before the 13km of steep technical descending off the Colma di Sormano to the lake.

Day 5

Epic Climbs 151km Elevation 3853

If you are looking for challenges or climbs, or simply want to test your strength you have just found what you were looking for. This itinerary is able to satisfy your desire to ride long distances and conquer thousands of meters in elevation. It measures about 150 kilometers and just under 4,000 meters in elevation, numbers that are really mind-boggling. Even professionals with the caliber of Laurent Fignon had to surrender to the Valcava by setting foot on the ground. Good luck!

Day 6

Departure Day

Departure day... Time to say goodbye, a good flight back home, or else a pleasant stay in South Italy. Transfers to the airport (on request) according to the time of your flight!

Airport

Milan has three important airports; the most important airport is Milan Malpensa, and from here many flights leave /arrive worldwide. There are many regular flights to/ from Madrid, Brussels, Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Berlin, Rome, London Heathrow, Copenhagen, Barcelona, Athens, Zurich, and more very important cities from all around the Globe.
The second airport is Milan Linate which has a lot of domestic and European flights to all important cities in Europe. There is a shuttle bus connecting Malpensa with Linate Airport. The ride between the two airports takes more than an hour.
The third airport is Bergamo Airport (officially Rio al Serio International Airport) which is northeast of Milan, close to the city of Bergamo. This airport is especially used by budget companies like Ryanair.

Bus to central station

From Milan Malpensa Airport to Milan Central station are Malpensa Shuttle busses departing: every 30 to 60 minutes Length: 1 hour.
From Milan Linate International Airport to Milan Central Station busses depart every 30 minutes Length: 20 minutes.
Bergamo Airport has no direct train connection, but there is a shuttle bus that takes you to the station in Bergamo.
