Self Guided cycling Tour East Pyrenees on road bike
La Cerdanya is a remarkable natural Catalan county and one of Europe’s most expansive valleys, set at an altitude of around 1,000 metres. The base for this road-cycling stage is Puigcerdà, the largest town in the valley. Perched on a promontory, it offers sweeping views over the meadows of the valley floor and toward the rugged peaks of the surrounding Pyrenees.
Puigcerdà features several notable monuments, including the 15th-century Gothic church of Santo Domingo, the Gothic bell tower of the former church of Santa María, and the arcaded Plaza Mayor, the lively heart of the town. Another highlight is its historic artificial lake, constructed in the late 13th century and now one of its most emblematic sites.
During the rides, you will follow quiet, unspoiled secondary roads with spectacular scenery and virtually no traffic. Along the way, you’ll be able to stop and enjoy charming, traditional Pyrenean villages that reflect the region’s authentic character.
